As a part of that preventative care, Dr. Kaban and her team recommend routine dental cleanings and oral examinations, while reinforcing daily brushing and flossing with proper technique. Good preventive care creates a healthy mouth by disrupting oral bacteria that produce plaque and tartar from building up along the gumline of the teeth. Dr. Kaban emphasizes preventive dental care and also encourages that you have a strong relationship with your primary care physician so that both your mouth and body remain in good health.

During our preventative care appointments, Dr. Kaban comprehensively reviews your medical history including any medications. She conducts a thorough oral exam and provide a professional dental cleaning. Dr. Kaban customizes how often X-rays are taken based on each patient's risk factors including cavities, and gum and bone disease. She also performs an oral cancer screening as well as a head and neck exam to check for any abnormalities. She is happy to review any findings with each patient to discuss any treatment or hygiene recommendations.

As needed, she will discuss nutritional recommendations to help modify cavity risk. We strongly recommend fluoride treatment to strengthen your enamel and help prevent cavities, but can also suggest other ways to help remineralize teeth.
